*Diaper Making Update

Well, you guys asked for it, so here it is.... the finished product!

And here it is in use!

I'm proud to say that not only does it look way cute, it also works REALLY well. Jericho peed quite a bit in it, and there wasn't a single leak. He actually took a nap in it. My mom found a number of things she didn't like about it after it was done, but she is your typical perfectionist, so in my eyes, as long as it does what it's supposed to do, I don't care that much whether there is the right amount of elasticity in the leg bands.

Needless to say, I can finally start tracing the pattern out onto the nice fabric that I bought specifically for this purpose. I can't even tell you how convenient pocket diapers are. No more difficult than using a disposable diaper! I'm more than happy to share the pattern (and tips for making it!) with anyone who is interested in giving it a go!

Oh and, while I'm on the subject of making things.... A woman that is in one of my mommy meet-up groups asked if anyone could make toddler sized sleep sacks... for those of you who have no clue what a sleep sack is, you can see one here. It's an awesome type of blanket that your baby can wear.

I thought to myself "DING DING!" How super easy those would be to create! So that is going to be the next project I try doing myself. My mom has already made it clear that I'll be on my own with that one.... but I'm going to try to weasel some help out of her.

When I have kids, you're making those for me. screw getting tips from you. DO IT FOR ME! By then you'll have tons of experience so they'll be all super perfect. I"ll do without the sleep sack though.

LOL I totally need to start my own diaper making business! As for sleep sacks, you'd be AMAZED what you'll go for in the middle of the night when you can't snap one of those baby footie pajama things to save your life. I always swore I would never put my boys into those newborn gown things...... yeah, um, both of them wore them their entire first few weeks. They are a Godsend!

I like the little gowns, the sack though is just sort of weird. They seem like they're a lot bigger than the kid and they'd get all wrapped around in them. Kind of like when Jakob woke up with his arm outside of his jammies. haha.

Oh, P.s. you should make some of the diapers for yourself and when you get a few samples done, you should make a post on craigslist for customized cloth diapers and either have a bunch of material for the people to choose from or just have them supply their own and then just charge them for services and stuff.

You totally should. I'm all about making money any way I can. So, do it.

I'm thinking about opening up my own shop on Etsy. It's an awesome site where you can find/sell all handcrafted stuff.

The sack in that picture is enormous, but it was the only one I could find that you could really see what it is really well. This one has a better picture though: http://www.mom4life.com/pcimages/terrycloth_blueicon.jpg

The thing is that right now, Jericho has reached an age where he likes to play with his blankets, and usually that means pulling his blanket up over his head and falling asleep like that. I read that experts think one possible factor in SIDS is babies re-breathing air that doesn't have enough oxygen. So with the sleep sacks, he can't get the blanket over his face, AND I don't have to worry about his blanket falling off of him at night and him getting cold.

Okay, the blue one is not nearly as creepy as the other one. I understand the logic behind them, they just look silly, but hey, all in the name of healthy bambinos! Yeah, I've heared of Etsy, Thriftwares is on there i'm pretty sure. As well as stylehive and stylemob and a ton of other crap but you definitely should, with the way people are all super "go green" these days, I bet you really could turn it into something beneficial. You'd either have to learn to sew them yourself or cut mom a check for her services though haha. You'd be moms boss. Hahhaha.

LOL @ Me being mom's boss. Yesterday she called and was like "get the heck up here".

Me, the big bad boss lady that I am replied: "Yes mother" and did as I was told.

I really do need to learn how to do it myself. I can use a sewing machine ones it's all threaded and stuff, it's just the bobbins and all that where I get messed up. You should see some of the fabric that I bought. You would abso-freaking-lutely LOVE it!

The diapers are TOO cute. I agree that the sleep sacks would be pretty simple. You could do different weights of fabric for different times of year, and keep a store of fabric (which you, of course, buy on super-sale) for people to choose from. Nice!
